After Winning His First XC2 Race Cody Caught Up with Jordan Ashburn.

Cody: How's it going Jordan?

Jordan:Going good!

Cody: Great! Take us thru your season up to this past weekend at the Penton.

Jordan: Well, it didn’t start off the best. I had a few little issues with stuff; you know just the new bike, new year. Trying to get things sorted out, But I guess we got everything sorted out now.

Cody: You mentioned a new bike, what kind of bike were you on and what kind are you on now?

Jordan: I was riding Kawasakis, but I made the switch over to Yamaha.

Cody: What do you think about the switch?

Jordan: It's great! I love it, we got it where it needs to be and I am really comfortable and happy now, I think it was a good choice!

Cody: You said you had a little bit of trouble at the beggining of the year. Take us thru them.

Jordan: At Snowshoe I had some really bad luck. I ended up like 16th there; 6th At Rock Run; and Second at Big Buck, which was my best ride of the year up until now. North Carolina “Steele Creek” I was running 2nd, but got into some water which was unfortunate.

Cody: At the John Penton, obviously you ended up winning XC2 and finishing 9th Overall. What did you have to do to get through the race?

Jordan: I got a mid-pack start, worked my way through the pack up to 3rd on the first lap. Caught up to Jesse Robinson and actually passed him on a hill. Then I tried to pull away and gap myself from everyone else until the end. The last lap I had a problem with a lapper in the tight section and he got around me. So he and I duked it out to the end.

Cody: Right now you’re 5th in Points, 16 behind Robinson and 17 from Delong. Do you think a top 3 XC2 overall at the end of the year is possible?

Jordan: As long as I can stay consistent and stay on the podium then I believe I can be top 3 at the end.

Cody: Do think this win for you going into the break has given you a boost of confidence that will last thru the summer?

Jordan: Yeah, I’ve been in South Carolina training at Randy Hawkins all week and I’m just going to keep training during the break.

Cody: What are your thoughts on the double header at Loretta’s with it being so close to home for you and all?

Jordan: It’s going to be rough, 3 hours twice in a three day period is going to be tough. Your body is gonna have to be in shape for it for sure. It’s going to be different so, we'll have to see how it goes.

Cody: I know there are some people you would like to thank for getting you to where you are.

Jordan: Obermeyer, AmPro Yamaha, Randy Hawkins, Factory Connection, Kenda, MSR, SCOTT, Gaerne.

Cody: Well Jordan thank you for sitting down and giving us a few minutes of your time and good luck the rest of the season!

Jordan: No problem anytime! Thanks!
