What does 90 plus degree weather, scorching hot sunshine, and over 400 acres of Greene County, Tennessee’s finest rocks, roots, trails, and creek beds equal?

The inaugural running of the Mountain Trail Riders Association Hare Scramble Race at I-81 Motorsports Park!

OFFROADVIKING.com's Landon Smith

It was a good turnout for the clubs first race considering that there were a couple other race series running this weekend. Club members were working from daylight till dark in the days leading up to the race getting everything ready and ended up with an 8 mile course for the 75 riders. Every rider that I spoke with loved the course and said they can’t wait for the next event. The offroadviking.com cameras were rolling and we will get that footage edited and uploaded soon. Chuck Lemaster of Team Faith and his son Trevor were on hand to do some racin’ and Chuck was kind enough to hold a Sunday morning trackside service for us. Chuck is the full time “Pit Pastor” for the GNCC series. Trevor and Chuck both won their classes! With a $500.00 pro purse plus 100% pro payback up for grabs the race attracted AmPro Yamaha’s Paul (The Axe Man) Whibley who won the Pro Class with Litz Racing’s Matthew Holden taking second, Offroad Viking’s Landon Smith taking third and Champion Cycle’s Wes Keller bringing home fourth.

The good staff of Mountain Trail Riders Association are working hard to get me the lap times for the ATV’s and Side by Side’s. I will get them posted soon so check back often.

Thanks to everyone that braved the high temperatures to come work, race, and or spectate. Hopefully this will be the first of many great races to come in this series.
